We wanted to shine a little light on some of the truly positive and amazing partnerships and collaborations happening at the moment.
Many unlikely and unique partnerships between individuals and organisations have been developed, some overnight, to support each other and help combat the many challenges that we are all facing.
When individuals, businesses and communities collaborate it truly demonstrates that together IS better. When faced with adversity and in this instance, life or death scenarios, people join forces for the greater good.
We wanted to share some of the amazing partnerships and collaborations that have been developed between individuals and businesses over the last few weeks. As specialists in building business partnerships, we genuinely understand the challenges around pulling off a successful collaboration. Combined with the normal complexities of bringing companies together, with such tight-time frames and extreme pressure that COVID-19 has thrown at us all, the following examples are truly incredible and inspiring.
University College London engineers worked with clinicians at UCLH and Mercedes Formula One Team
The University College London engineers worked with clinicians at UCLH and Mercedes Formula One to build a device, which delivers oxygen to the lungs without needing a ventilator. These are now being used all around the world where needed, helping to save many lives.

LinkedIn and NHS
NHS Jobs, the official online recruitment service for the NHS in England and Wales, are working with LinkedIn to promote COVID-19 specific roles as ‘urgent’ on LinkedIn’s platform.
This is also supporting the new ‘Pop-up’ hospitals that have been set up to ensure they have the trained staff they need to respond to coronavirus. This includes the London’s Excel centre and Manchester central which have both been transformed into NHS Nightingale Hospitals.

3D Printed respirator valves and masks for NHS
Hobs 3D produced a number of 3D printed respirator valves and masks for the NHS, due to the demand and need for them in essential places including hospitals and care homes.
Brands supporting front line workers
Since the start of this pandemic we have seen brands of all shapes and sizes come together to provide support to Key Workers incl; NHS Staff and Teachers.
L’Occitane sent hand cream to hospitals for staff who have been working around the clock. Pret a Manger and Leon restaurants offered NHS Staff 50% food and drinks when stores were open. As well as drug stores offering discounts to key workers including Superdrug who offered 20% off.

UNESCO partnering with global computing firms
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation invited young creative innovators, data scientists and designers from all around the globe to help develop digital solutions to combat the global pandemic.
Online Family Support Sessions
One of our amazing clients, Family Support, have launched a virtual centre for families including home learning resources and a ‘Time to connect’ helpline. Bringing their Children’s Centre Sessions online for families to access during this time.

Scottish Women’s Aid, Shelter Scotland and The Chartered Institute of Housing Scotland
Scottish Women’s Aid has partnered with the Chartered Institute of Housing Scotland and Shelter Scotland to produce a good practice guide on domestic abuse for social landlords to help them prevent women and children’s homelessness and provide a service that is sensitive to their needs.

Coca-Cola donating to the Covid-19 relief efforts
Along with their bottling partners, The Coca-Cola Foundation are contributing over $120m globally to support COVID-19 relief efforts in affected communities. Their immediate support is directed towards the provision of protective equipment, drinks for health workers and the delivery of food supplies to vulnerable groups.
Coca Cola are working with charity partners and emergency services to ensure they can donate drinks to where they are most needed.
SUPERmarkets giving back to staff working during Covid-19
Most of the UK’s supermarkets joined forces to manage and share consumer and supply chain pressures when ‘panic buying’ kicked in early on in the outbreak of Covid-19. Many Supermarkets, including Morrisons and Aldi, have vowed to give their staff that have been working during these extreme times, a bonus at the end of the year.

Airlines are flying those stranded abroad home
Many airlines are struggling with the impact to their business operations during this time, but many have also done their bit to help.
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office announced a new government partnership with airlines to fly back more tourists stranded abroad due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Airlines included Virgin, Easyjet, Jet2, Titan and British Airways who are working closely with the Government to bring home stranded British travellers to their families. TUI’s cabin crew staff were also drawing on their skills and working in essential wards and departments in hospitals across the UK to help keep patients and staff calm during the pressure they are under.
Sport England announce COVID-19 Funding
Sport England announced recently that they will be funding £195M to support the sport and physical activity sector during the current crisis. This will help continue to facilitate the vital delivery of physical activity in England and improve the health and wellbeing of the community.
The list of collaborations goes on. But all these partnerships have one thing in common: ‘commitment’. Effective partnerships genuinely means working better together to achieve greater positive outcomes. With a focus on getting through this challenging period as best as possible and focusing on the positive in this new norm, what has become clear is that the world can truly work better together. Let’s make sure the awareness of what partnerships and collaborations can achieve continues.
